Mr. Rusert's Seventh Grade Classroom
Dear Parents and Students,

As we finish out the year, it seems that May is busier than December.  We try to fit everything in at the end.  Please keep your seventh grader focused on their school work - it is tempting to get "Summer Fever" too soon.  We have many important things to learn and experience yet this year!
Parents, please keep us in your prayers.  We need the Lord's strength to continue our successful year.  The class and the teachers also need your assistance with support, understanding, and guidance.

Please check out the Announcement section and also stay informed by reading the Green Sheet email this year and next or visiting Green Park's website or Facebook page.

Welcome to my Web page!

Yes, Mr. Rusert has his own class Web site. This site will be for students and parents alike to keep up on what is happening at school, homework assignments, and other activities. I will be working to keep the site up-to-date and a valuable place to visit this year.

Things to Remember

I would like to remind you that Green Park has a number of fund raisers that you can support with your donations or effort this year. If you do not decide to buy items from our sales, you can collect labels and box tops to help us. Look for these things below:

CAMPBELL'S SOUP LABELS
OR CAMPBELL'S EDUCATION LABELS

GENERAL MILLS BOX TOPS FOR
EDUCATION PRODUCTS FROM
CEREALS TO BOXED FOOD MIXES TO
KLEENEX BOXES.

GROCERY STORE GIFT CERTIFICATES
TO  DIERBERGS OR SHOP 'N SAVE, OR SCHNUCKS' SCRIP CARDS

Scrip Cards are also available to you for many businesses.  Remember that you can benefit from our program by applying funds to your tuition . . . etc.  Contact the school office if you are interested.

If we bought more gift certificates to these grocery stores, we could eliminate the other fund raising efforts. The funny thing is that is does not cost us any thing for this program.

Please send these labels or box tops into school with your child. You can buy the gift certificates at your church or at school.

The school also collects used computer ink cartridges.  Please send these in inside a plastic bag.  Also old cell phones are collected.  Thanks.

Seventh Grade Survival Tips

Ten Ways to be Successful at Green Park Lutheran School (created by seventh graders themselves):

1. Pay attention in class:  Listen to your teacher and to your classmates.

2. Ask questions:  Be honest with yourself and teachers if you do not understand something.

3. Stay Organized:  Use assignment book, work and plan ahead, and take your time to do your best.

4. Do your homework, but also make an effort to do more than required.

5. Postive Attitude: "I will learn to do . . ."

6. Learn from your mistakes.

7. Be prepared for class:  have your book, notes, homework, and materials needed.

8. Follow directions given by your teacher.

9. Think creatively and critically: think for yourself.

10. Take accurate notes in class: important for doing well on tests.

Mr. Rusert's Wish List

1. 50 - Kids Discover Magazines on Ancient India at $2.50 each.
2. A surround sound system with wireless microphone capability so my voice and students can be heard doing their presentations.  This could also help students to hear videos and dvds.
3. Money to purchase updated DVD's for Social Studies program, especially Geography.

If you have any questions about these, please ask Mr. Rusert.  I would appreciate your consideration of these needs.  If you cannot buy the individual item, you can donate an amount of money to my wish list fund in care of the school.  Thank you for your prayers and support.

My Mission to You

Heart plus

My mission is to help my students reach their God-given potential. I will treat every person in my school with respect, compassion, understanding, and a forgiving heart. I will also expect the best from them in their school work, behavior, and social interactions. My mission is to be a Christ-like example for them, and to have them understand before they leave my classroom that Jesus loves them, died for them, and will always be there for them.
